Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Focus Troll handles information across the Focus Troll extension, the Focus Troll website, and related reminder, billing, and support workflows. Focus Troll is built to enforce the site rules you choose. It is not built to profile your browsing for advertising or data resale.
1. What We Collect
We collect only the information needed to operate Focus Troll's account, billing, reminder, and support features. Depending on how you use the product, this may include your email address, account identifiers, selected watchlist settings, custom site domains, schedule settings, plan status, reminder-request details, and feedback messages you send us.
If you request a website install reminder, we collect your email address, coarse browser and device metadata, the source page for that request, and a default product-update marketing opt-in status tied to that request.
2. What Stays Local vs. What Syncs
Focus Troll stores most working state in your browser. Your watchlist, on-duty rules, and related settings are stored locally first and may be synced to your account so the extension can restore them when you sign in.
Auto-log-out history is stored locally in the extension for product functionality and display. It is not part of the account settings sync flow unless we clearly tell you otherwise in the future.
3. Browser Permissions and Site Access
Focus Troll uses Chrome extension permissions such as tabs, storage, cookies, scripting, browsing data, identity, alarms, and offscreen documents to provide its user-facing productivity features. Focus Troll requests site access only for the sites you choose to watch.
When a watched site is enabled, Focus Troll may access tab and host information, request permission for that specific site, clear authentication cookies or related storage for that site, apply supported enforcement behavior, and record local activity history needed to show you what happened.
Focus Troll uses this information only to provide or improve the user-facing productivity features you chose. We do not sell your browsing history, use it for personalized advertising, or collect site access beyond what is needed to operate the selected Focus Troll features.
4. Accounts and Authentication
Focus Troll currently requires an account to use the extension. Authentication and account-linked settings are handled through Supabase Auth. Depending on the sign-in method you use, we may receive your email address and provider-linked account identifiers needed to authenticate you and keep your settings and entitlements connected to your account.
If you sign in with Google, Focus Troll may receive basic account information made available through that sign-in flow, such as your email address. The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Billing and Paid Plans
Paid plans are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details. Stripe sends us billing and subscription events such as purchase completion, subscription status, and cancellation timing so we can update your Focus Troll entitlement.
6. Reminder Emails and Product Updates
If you create a Focus Troll account or request a website install reminder, we may send product updates, launch announcements, feature releases, reminder emails, and promotional messages related to Focus Troll. These messages are currently enabled by default for those flows. You can opt out later where applicable or use unsubscribe links included in our emails.
7. Feedback and Support Messages
If you submit feedback through the extension, website, or uninstall page, we collect the message you send and, depending on the form, your email address or the signed-in email associated with your Focus Troll account. We use that information to review feedback, respond to support requests, and improve the product.
8. Third-Party Services
Focus Troll uses third-party services where necessary to operate:
- Supabase for authentication, account-linked settings, entitlements, and website reminder storage
- Stripe for billing and subscription management
- AWS SES for website install reminder emails
- Cloudflare Turnstile for abuse protection on public reminder forms
- Formspree for certain feedback and contact forms used on the website, uninstall flow, and extension support panel
- Google's favicon service to display site icons in the extension watchlist and activity history, which may receive the domain names of sites you choose to watch
9. Retention and Deletion
We keep account-linked data for as long as reasonably necessary to operate Focus Troll, maintain billing and entitlement records, provide support, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Local extension data remains in your browser unless you remove it, clear it, or uninstall the extension.
If you want to request deletion of account-linked data that we control, contact us at unskroll@focustroll.com.
10. Children's Privacy
Focus Troll is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the date above and reflect the change in the product or on this page.
12. Contact Us
